Assigning Member of Pillar Centre Dr. Viola Makhzoum as the General Coordinator of the Digital Governance Conference

The Islamic University of Lebanon organized a conference entitled of: Digital Governance: Concepts and Practices in the Lebanese Educational Sector, in order to address the problems facing the educational sector in Lebanon.

The President of the Islamic University of Lebanon, Prof. Hassan AlKays assigned D. Violla Makhzoum, Pillar Centre member, as the general coordinator of the conference, where she was also selected as the chair the opening session of the conference.

The conference was chaired, aslo, by the President of the Islamic University of Lebanon, Prof. Hassan AlKays, and attended by MP Muhammad Al-Hajjar, representative of the President of the Lebanese University, Prof. Salim Makdisi, Minister of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon, Prof. Abbas Al-Halabi, represented by Mr. Jihad Saliba, General Coordinator of the Network for Transformation and Digital Governance, Prof. Nadim Mansouri, Education and Innovation Sector Coordinator in the Network for Governance and Digital Transformation in Lebanon Dr. Rabie Baalbaki, in addition to representatives of the security services and a number of academics, administrators and students.

It is worth to be mentioned that the conference came out with several recommendations, including accelerating the implementation of digital governance in higher education in order to achieve quality education and social justice with transparency, as well as raising the budgets of digital education in the relevant ministries, strengthening scientific research, supporting researchers in the fields of knowledge technology and creating specialized departments concerned with the development of e-learning.
